Electrical Test Supervisor

Department: Electrode Test
Location: Waltham, MA

Nova Biomedical is hiring an Electrical Test Supervisor in our Waltham, MA facility. The Electrical Test Supervisor manages the daily activities of the Test Technicians as well as work closely with R&D on new product introductions and in the installation of new software on electrical peripherals. The Supervisor will have a comprehensive knowledge of electrical testing principles and techniques. This position develops and implements the initiatives necessary for the electrical test group to support the testing of printed circuit boards and other electronic sub-assemblies and the programming of assorted electronic assemblies. This position has overall responsibility to ensure (1) their area is compliant to all company standards and safety requirements, (2) their personnel are trained and competent in their duties, (3) the accuracy of area inventory, (4) the achievement of production schedules and (5) the assessment of equipment to ensure reliability and capacity. Additionally, this position will be training and coaching their direct reports and actively promoting teamwork. Other responsibilities include:

  • Achieve weekly testing schedules.
  • Define staffing, training, and equipment requirements to support existing and projected testing requirements.
  • Manage the area's inventory through the cycle count program; reconcile count discrepancies and input count data.
  • Identify and lead projects to improve: (1) the capabilities of the department, and (2) department utilization.
  • Ensure that MVs and ECOs are reviewed with direct reports and implemented including (a) the reconciliation of obsolete and new documentation, (b) implementing of new training and the subsequent completion of training records, and (c) the disposition of specified material.
  • Manage, utilizing SAP, work orders and material transactions. Ensure the accurate completion of test documentation.
  • Generate and administer performance appraisals.
  • Mentor staff to improve skill sets and provide redundant testing capabilities.
  • Manage training requirements including the maintenance of the Master Control Training records.
  • Administer Calibration and Maintenance for all department related equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and department policies and procedures. Address performance issues as necessary.
  • Manage daily staffing assignments and rotation plans.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
  • Support R&D with the introduction of new products including the collaboration with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering on the development of test procedures and fixtures.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of GMP and ISO requirements. FDA requirements a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, SAP experience a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing/testing environment.
  • Proven ability to teach, coach, mentor, and lead team members.
  • Capable of performing critical business assessments and developing and executing project plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Capable conflict management skills.
  • Self-motivated and acts with a sense of urgency.
  • Adaptable - able to quickly adapt to changing situations and requirements.
  • Situation Awareness - able to actively monitor testing operations and align testing capabilities to support manufacturing, new products, and business objectives.
  • Highly capable of using computers, various test platforms, data collection systems, and MS Software applications.

Education/Experience:

  • Technical degree in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • 10 plus years of hands-on experience in the testing of printed circuit boards and electronic/electromechanical assemblies, including 5 plus years in a supervisor/leadership capacity.
  • Medical device manufacturing environment a plus.
