Technical Product Specialist I - Biotech

Department: Bioprofile Applications
Location: Waltham, MA

Nova Biomedical is looking for a Technical Product Specialist to join our Technical Support department on-site in our Waltham, MA office. This is a terrific opportunity for a STEM graduate who is looking to launch a career in a customer facing role and grow with a medical device company.

The Technical Product Specialist communicates, primarily by telephone, with end users of Nova products to solve technical problems and answer questions related to the operation and maintenance of their Nova analyzer. Similar support is provided to Nova's Field Service Specialists, Field Sales representatives as well as in-house personnel. The Technical Product Specialist interacts with many departments within Nova Biomedical including Research and Development, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Post Market Department, Field Service and Field Sales.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Communicate primarily with end users, Field Service and Field Sales representatives to resolve technical problems and answer questions related to their Nova instruments.
  • Documenting details of each call including steps taken to resolve problems and/or answer questions in the Pivotal Database.
  • Participate in rotating after hours support to provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week technical support.
  • Assist in the training of new Technical Product Specialists, Field Service Specialists and Field Sales representatives.
  • Provide Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance support to internal customers in Manufacturing, Quality Control and Research and Development.
  • On occasion, take part in special projects for customers or the Technical Support department
  • Occasional travel to customer sites.

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with bioengineering, biotechnology research laboratory and/or biologics production/manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with cell culture/fermentation for biologics development is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Must be an effective communicator with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong technical ability to troubleshoot and understand complex systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and technical aptitude
  • Strong ability to multi-task

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum BS or equivalent, in Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Life Sciences or Electronics. Entry level position, experience not required but clinical or biotechnology laboratory background preferred.
