Financial Controller  - Germany

Financial Controller - Germany

Job Summary & Key Objectives:

As the Controller you will be responsible for all finance related matters, Human Resources (HR), and other administrative functions including customer care (order management), facilities, inventory management, logistics, legal and travel. You will be accountable for overseeing the close processes, managing the interpretation and implementation of accounting standards, the timely preparation of financial statements for both internal and corporate users and be responsible for directing the organization's planning and forecasting activities. The successful candidate will have the leadership style such that they are the “right-hand” person to the General Manager and will be able to manage when the GM is out of the office.

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Oversee annual budget preparation, including revenue plans and operating expenses, and provide quarterly forecast updates
  • Ensure monthly financial statements are in compliance with appropriate accounting standards and submitted to corporate in a timely manner
  • Submit weekly revenue updates and bookings information and other corporate reports as required
  • Maintain ERP systems to produce high quality and timely reporting for internal and corporate users in support of the business as it grows
  • Responsible for implementation and compliance of company internal controls and cash management
  • Liaise with local accounting, tax and customs advisors and prepare all financial and tax filings as required
  • Manage staff including order entry, warehouse and accounting
  • Conduct HR related activities including recruitment, salary planning, payroll and commissions, employee benefits, and generate required HR related documentation for corporate
  • Work closely with corporate Treasury group to manage cash, receivables, FX, etc.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Various ad hoc analysis as required

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Strong German & English speaking skills
  • Experience managing integrated ERP (SAP) systems
  • Knowledge of local accounting and statutory reporting requirements with US GAAP knowledge a plus
  • Ability to work independently and simultaneously lead multiple projects in a small office environment
  • Experience identifying areas for improvement and implementation of more effective and efficient processes and strategies
  • Proven leadership skills inspiring great results with positive attitudes in a fast-paced team environment able to influence, train and mentor staff to achieve objectives
  • 7-10 years of relevant financial and managerial experience preferably in medical devices
