About the role

The Clinical Sales Specialist is responsible for driving new business growth for Nova’s Point of Care solutions while managing and expanding existing business within assigned accounts. This role focuses on both acquisition and retention by leveraging clinical expertise, strategic selling, and strong customer relationships. The Clinical Sales Specialist partners closely with Account Managers, other Clinical Specialists, Inside Sales, Field Applications, and Medical & Scientific Affairs to support growth across the Nova portfolio and deliver a coordinated, high-quality customer experience.

What you’ll do

  • Drive new business acquisition for Nova Point of Care solutions within assigned hospital and health system accounts.
  • Manage and grow existing Osmometer business within assigned accounts through upgrades and expansion opportunities.
  • Identify, develop, and close sales opportunities in partnership with Account Managers, Inside Sales, and other Specialists to support multi-product opportunities and coordinated account strategies as needed.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clinical and operational stakeholders across Laboratory, Point of Care (POC), ICU, Emergency Department, Nursing, and Clinical Education.
  • Influence clinical and purchasing decisions by articulating Nova’s differentiated technology, workflow efficiencies, and clinical value.
  • Support product demonstrations, evaluations, and committee presentations in collaboration with Field Applications.
  • Participate in multi-department and multi-site initiatives, including health system standardization efforts.
  • Engage Medical & Scientific Affairs as appropriate to support key clinical discussions and evidence-based decision making.
  • Manage pricing discussions, negotiations, and contracting in alignment with company policies and approval processes.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity pipeline, forecasting, and activity documentation within Salesforce.com.
  • Participate in regional business reviews, territory planning, and approved trade shows as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for in you

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Clinical, scientific, or business-related degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Point of Care testing, clinical workflows, and hospital operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles in hospital and health system environments.
  • Ability to communicate clinical, technical, and economic value to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a matrixed sales organization.
  • Strong discipline in opportunity management, forecasting, and CRM utilization.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently in a field-based role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Point of Care diagnostics, laboratory diagnostics, or related medical device/diagnostics sales preferred.
  • Experience selling into hospital or health system environments preferred.
  • POC professionals with relevant experience and a strong aptitude for sales will be considered.

Physical Requirements for this role include:

  • Ability to travel within assigned territory, including overnight travel as required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and conduct customer-facing presentations.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials or equipment up to 66 pounds as required for demonstrations.

Work Location: Houston, Remote, Travel

Schedule/Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Targeted Salary Range: $105,000 - $125,000/year
