About the role

We are looking for a Senior AI software engineer to support the Research & Systems Engineering. Facilitating the research, design and deployment of new machine learning/artificial intelligence models, to embed within the current and future products portfolio. Owning the technical responsibility for all Artificial Intelligence (AI) features in the image processing and model training Portfolio.

What you’ll do

  • Design and lead innovative AI projects from beginning to end and provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Be able to assist in the breakdown of new AI features into actionable work items, and work with the team to estimate the time and complexity involved them.
  • Produce coherent and concise technical documentation of AI-based projects, providing summaries and evidence of work completed.
  • Manage AI model codebases from research to production level.
  • Communicate with other teams (Systems, Software Development team) to perform team tasks more effectively.
  • Contribute to the creation and filing of patents to protect intellectual property generated through research efforts, working closely with legal and intellectual property teams as necessary.
  • Implement state-of-the-art AI and ML models and evaluate performance with regards to key business objectives, introducing research prototypes and features into the company’s portfolio of market leading instruments.

What we are looking for in you

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to work in a methodical and organized manner and keep detailed records of all work carried out
  • Ability to readily absorb complex bioinformatic concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of biotech industry with focus on cell development practices.
  • Deep knowledge of convolutional models and latest techniques.
  • Proficiency in major deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow)
  • MSc or higher in CompSci, Mathematics, Physics, AI, Computational Biology or any other relevant quantitative discipline, OR equivalent master’s level work experience delivering AI/ML solutions
  • 2+ years of experience applying ML/AI to microscope images or biological problems.
  • 3-4 years of experience with any of the major deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow)
  • Experience with ONNX preferred
  • Demonstrable industry experience of delivering computer vision-based AI projects (preferably in biotech)

  • The ability to work on a laptop or desktop computer for prolonged periods of time.

Work Location: On-site in Waltham

Targeted Salary Range: $145,000 - $170,000/year.
