About the role

The Production Planner 1 is responsible for scheduling, maintaining, and releasing material for instrument and sub-assemblies jobs. This position will execute materials planning, releasing, and coordination of material release requirements in support of production and development programs. This position includes managing scheduling conflicts either due to personnel or material constraints. The Production Planner 1 will collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, and Quality to ensure the appropriate parts are specified and available to support production. This is a critical role that requires a strong sense of urgency, great communications skills, and the desire to make a measurable and immediate impact on the business.

What you’ll do

  • Provides input into weekly material priorities with site representatives from Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Technical Operations and Warehouse.
  • Reviews, prioritizes, and schedules the delivery of raw materials & consumables to meet target dates and prevent stock shortages
  • Print labels meeting regulatory requirements and validating the labels.
  • Continually evaluate new and improved ways to utilize ERP to allow for maximum efficiency in the supply planning processes.
  • Analyze MPS history, sales forecast, and production yields to determine optimum make lot size, inventory levels, safety stock and production costs and react accordingly.
  • Coordinate new product integration into Production
  • Assist Purchasing and Production teams with scheduling conflicts internally and with suppliers.
  • Update operations and standard labor times in ERP for assemblies.
  • Manage physical inventory and cycle count program.
  • Investigate material variances and determine the root causes.
  • Assist other departments as needed with inventory related questions.
  • React to Engineering Change Orders that impact Purchasing, Production, and Materials.
  • Schedule Engineering requests for prototype builds.
  • Support the inventory team with coverage as needed.
  • Self-starter: someone who is proactive, who can lead by example in the absence of a manager. Volunteers readily; seeks increased responsibility; asks for and offers help when needed.

What we are looking for in you

  • Medical device or regulated industry and knowledge of applicable FDA/GMP and International medical device regulations and standards experience preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years job related experience preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years MS Excel proficiency
  • 1 to 3 years ERP experience – Epicor preferred
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, general education degree (GED), Associate Degree preferred
  • Professional certification (APICS, CPM, SPM, CSCP or CPIM) - Preferred

  • Must be able to use basic office equipment: computer, printer, copier, telephone, etc.
  • Must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Must be capable of communicating with stakeholders through various means.

Work Location: Onsite in Norwood, MA - 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Targeted Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000/year
